(NV Only) Tell the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners to ban wildlife killing contests Wildlife killing contests are cruel and unsporting events where participants earn prizes for the slaughter of native wildlife. These events are not hunting. They are not wildlife management. They need to end. Killing contests are illegal in eight states and should be banned in Nevada. We need your help to get this passed. Send an email to the Nevada Board of Wildlife Commissioners today to express your support for a ban on wildlife killing contests. If you want to do more, you can also submit a letter to the editor of your local paper. Photo Credit: Sam Parks Recipients Jon AlmbergVice Chair Tom BarnesTommy CavigliaChair Tiffany EastCasey D. Message * Subject: Dear Commissioner, * Personalize your message I respectfully ask that you end wildlife killing contests in Nevada. These events are cruel. They are wasteful. They are not legitimate wildlife management. They give Nevada a bad name. And they jeopardize the reputation of ethical hunting. Wildlife should be managed as a public asset and I do not condone the waste and cruelty occurring through these contests. Killing contests celebrate the massacre of native animals. They utilize brutal and inhumane practices that promote disrespect for wildlife. Killing contests do not have merit as wildlife management and do not decrease wildlife-livestock conflict. In fact, wanton killing can increase incidences of conflict as family systems of native wildlife are disrupted. A ban on killing contests will not limit NDOW's management abilities, nor will it ban legal hunting or fishing tournaments. Eight states, including our southwestern neighbors in Arizona, California, Colorado, and New Mexico, have banned wildlife killing contests. As a Nevadan, I urge the commission to take action and ban wildlife killing contests.
