Message * Subject: Dear President-elect Biden, * Personalize your message I'm calling on you to reform the cruel culture of killing by the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Wildlife Services program and stop the wanton waste of taxpayer dollars funding this archaic institution. Just last year, Wildlife Services killed over 1.2 million native animals. The mass slaughter included 62,002 coyotes, 24,543 beavers, 1,362 gray foxes, 1,280 red foxes, 400 black bears, 308 cougars, 302 gray wolves, and 800 bobcats. Even worse, Wildlife Services targets the most vulnerable and defenseless animals by destroying dens with countless young animals inside. Last year they obliterated 35,226 prairie dog burrows, 251 coyote dens, and 96 fox dens. I'm counting on the Biden administration to take action to end this war on wildlife. Specifically, I urge your Secretary of Interior to issue an Executive Order banning the use of cyanide bombs, traps, snares, poisons, and aerial gunning on all public lands managed by the Department of Interior, including Bureau of Land Management lands. I also call on your administration to initiate new rule-making and a programmatic environmental review of the federal Wildlife Services program that will make bans of cruel killing methods more permanent and implement policies and practices that require coexistence with wildlife, especially native carnivores. Finally, I ask your administration to work with Congress to pass Canyon's Law, prohibiting the use of sodium cyanide bombs on public lands, and ensure full appropriation is earmarked requiring more non-lethal engagement by Wildlife Services on all lands involving all wildlife conflicts.
